<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>A dear friend of ours and fellow genealogist, Miklós Békefi, drew our attention to these special death register pages:</p>
<p><a href="http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív1.jpg"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class=" wp-image-491 aligncenter" src="http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív1-259x300.jpg" alt="" width="541" height="627" srcset="http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív1-259x300.jpg 259w, http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív1-768x890.jpg 768w, http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív1-883x1024.jpg 883w, http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív1.jpg 1584w" sizes="(max-width: 541px) 100vw, 541px" /></a> <a href="http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív2.jpg"><img decoding="async" class=" wp-image-492 aligncenter" src="http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív2-300x277.jpg" alt="" width="541" height="500" srcset="http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív2-300x277.jpg 300w, http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív2-768x710.jpg 768w, http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív2-1024x946.jpg 1024w, http://historiatranslation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/kreatív2.jpg 1841w" sizes="(max-width: 541px) 100vw, 541px" /><br />
</a><span id="more-489"></span></p>
<p>(Felsőszölnök, 1789)</p>
<p>The arrows and numbers indicate all the different expressions for saying that somebody has died. Yes, most of these 51 entries are different! They are also preceded and followed by the usual <em>obiit </em>and <em>sepultus/a est</em> .</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Here is a list of the variations in Latin and English – in the same order as in the image, so you can practice some Latin reading too. Enjoy!</p>

<p>P.S. Have you found a Hungarian, Latin or German text and don&#8217;t know whether it is worth translating? We can make you an abstract from it! You can learn who wrote it and to whom, when and where it was written, as well as what it’s about, so that you can decide whether or not you want to have it translated.
